چکیده

ullite is widely used as a structural material for applications like thermal and environmental barriers coatings. For some of these applications, hermal spray is a suitable technique due to its fast production time and versatility. This makes mullite a very interesting coating material for thermal pray industry. In the present work, the viability to produce coatings by thermal spray using mullite–CNFs agglomerated powders is analyzed. he stability of aqueous mullite and mullite–CNFs suspensions was studied in terms of zeta potential and rheological behaviour of concentrated lurries. Slurries were optimized in terms of dispersant concentration and solid content. The optimized suspensions were used for the granules reparation by spray drying technology. The obtained granules were characterized through the determination of particle size distribution and shape actor by field emission scanning electron microscopy and laser scattering. These granules were used to form the coatings by Atmospheric Plasma praying which were characterized by evaluating the composition, structure, shape, and thickness. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Mullite and Mullite/ZrO2-7wt.%Y2O3 Powders for Thermal Spraying of Environmental Barrier Coatings

Mullite and mullite/ZrO2-7wt.%Y2O3 coatings could be thought among the main protective layers for environment barrier coatings (EBCs) to protect Si-based substrates in future gas turbine engines. Considering that feedstock of the compound powder is not commercially available, two powder processing routes Spray Drying (SD) and Flame Spheroidization (FS) were implemented for both types of powders...

Effect of TiO2 addition on the microstructure and nanomechanical properties of Al2O3 Suspension Plasma Sprayed coatings

Alumina-titania coatings are widely used in industry for wear, abrasion or corrosion protection components. Such layers are commonly deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) using powder as feedstock. In this study, both Al2O3 and Al2O3-13 wt% TiO2 coatings were deposited on austenitic stainless steel coupons by suspension plasma spraying (SPS). Two commercial suspensions of nanosized Al2...

Plasma spray deposition of tri-layer environmental barrier coatings

n air plasma spray process has been used to deposit tri-layer environmental barrier coatings consisting of a silicon bond coat, a mullite interiffusion barrier, and a Yb2SiO5 top coat on SiC substrates. Solidified droplets in as-deposited Yb2SiO5 and mullite layers were discovered to be epleted in silicon. This led to the formation of an Yb2SiO5 + Yb2O3 two-phase top coat and 2:1 mullite (2Al2O...
